Little Background on Chief John Kiley

Chief Kiley has had a long history serving his community. After high school, Chief Kiley served in the Marine Corps. After leaving the marines, Chief Kiley became a full time firefighter for Buena Vista, Michigan. While he was a firefighter, he also attended college to become a police officer. He became a Sheriff's Deputy for Kent County, Michigan. He then moved up to Police Chief for Crystal Township. This township covered 66 square mile and he supervised 5 police officers. The department eventually dissolved, so John began work as a contractor for the phone company. This is what brought him to Oklahoma. In 2021, Chief Kiley became a Reserve Officer for the Town of Beaver. To certify in Oklahoma, Chief Kiley had to go to reserve class for 6 months. He completed this in April of 2022 and moved up to a part-time officer. He then attended Cleet Bridge Academy in October of 2023 and was promoted to Police Chief for the Town of Beaver. Chief Kiley loves his town and takes pride in his job.

The Town of Beaver is thrilled to announce the addition of a familiar face to its police department: Officer Kalyn Abare. Kalyn, who grew up in Beaver and attended local schools, has returned home after gaining extensive experience in law enforcement across multiple agencies. His career includes 4½ years with the Department of Corrections in Ft. Supply, followed by positions at the Liberal Police Department, Rush County (Kansas) Sheriff's Department, Osborne County (Kansas) Sheriff's Department and most recently, the Beaver County Sheriff's Department. During his time with the Liberal Police Department, Kalyn earned the prestigious Life Saving Award for his heroic actions. He discovered a man lying face down on the ground, not breathing and without a pulse. Without hesitation, Kalyn immediately initiated lifesaving measures and continued until additional first responders and EMS personnel arrived. Thanks to his quick response and dedication, the victim was successfully transported to a local hospital. "We feel very fortunate to have Kalyn on board and feel he will be a huge asset to our town and department," city manager Shannnon Mitchell said.
